O’Connor snags Co-Rookie of the Week honors

Freshman netminder Matt O’Connor, named October’s Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Month, added another honor, earning Co-Rookie of the Week honors for his 26-save effort in BU’s 4-2 win against North Dakota. The 6-5 Toronto native now has a 1.81 GAA and a .942 save percentage. Matt Nieto, Danny O’Regan and Alexx Privitera all earned spots on the Top Performers list for the week.

►USCHO poster Scarlet reports that Friday’s game at Merrimack will air on WBIN (also on Fox College Sports) with former UMass head coach,  BU assistant coach and standout Terrier forward Don “Toot” Cahoon doing the color.

►In case you missed it last week, Episode 4 of Inside BU Hockey featured interviews with Coach Jack Parker, Captain Wade Megan, and WWZN color analyst and former Terrier co-captain Tom Ryan, one of the drivers of last weeks mass turnout of BU hockey alums to honor Parker during the UMass game.

Looking ahead:

Among the games reportedly on BU’s non-conference schedule for 2013-2014: a pair with North Dakota at Agganis Arena and meetings with Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Cornell (Madison Square Garden). With Notre Dame and UConn joining Hockey East and conference games being reduced to 22 from 27, Hockey East teams will play outside the league more frequently.

►Adam Clendening scored his first professional goal in Rockford’s 6-3 win against Lake Erie. David van der Gulik registered an assisted for Lake Erie.

►Matt Gilroy scored a power play goal—his third marker of the season—but Connecticut was thumped 10-2 by Springfield.
