Game Day: Terriers host the Black Bears




A week after defeating Maine at Alfond Arena, the #2/#3 Terriers face the same conference foe on home ice, with a Friday match-up beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Black Bears are the first of five foes BU will face in 10 days.  

Terriers will again be without sophomore Robbie Baillargeon (mono) and freshman Nikolas Olsson (upper-body).

Episode 7 of Inside BU Hockey features Bernie Corbett's interviews with Head Coach David Quinn, sophomore forward Kevin Duane and former Terrier and NHL standout Scott Young (photo), who is in his first season as Director of Hockey Operations at BU. A two-time Stanley Cup champion who scored 756 points (342G, 414A) in 17 NHL seasons, Young returns to Commonwealth Avenue after four seasons as head coach at his prep school alma mater, St. Mark's. In two seasons as a Terrier--and a teammate of Quinn--Young scored 65 points before signing with the Hartford Whalers who had made him their first-round draft pick (11th overall) in 1986. Adam Clendening, recalled from the AHL on Tuesday, fired a one-timer for a power play goal four minutes into his first NHL game, as the Blackhawks edged Calgary, 4-3.

NBC Sports examined how Nick Bonino has contributed to Vancouver’s strong start. The former Terrier and Avon Old Farms standout now has 15 points (7G, 8A) in 19 games. Last season with Anaheim, he had 49 points.


Former Terrier Travis Roy was presented with the Christopher Reeve Foundation's prestigious Spirit of Courage Award at its annual gala in New York City.  The Travis Roy Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the life of individuals with spinal cord injuries and to finding a cure through increased funding of research.

Women’s Team
#6 BU hosts #7 Harvard tonight at Walter Brown Arena with puck drop set for 7 p.m. The game will feature three skaters who performed in last winter’s Olympics in Sochi, Russia, including BU captain Marie-Philip Poulin. Junior Sarah Lefort leads the Terriers in scoring with 16 points.
