IBUH #20; Throwback Thursday

Episode  20 of Inside BU Hockey features Bernie Corbett’s interviews with head coach David Quinn, senior netminder Sean Maguire and USCHO Senior Writer/UMass Lowell radio analyst Jim Connelly.

Maguire, who returned to the BU line-up after missing the 2014-15 season due to a concussion, brings a 2.18 GAA and a .928 save percentage into this weekend’s Hockey East Quarterfinal. A Pittsburgh draft pick, who played for the BCHL Powell River Kings prior to BU, he has an 11-3-1 record in his last 15 starts. Maguire's career save percentage is currently at .925, slightly better than John Curry's record of .923. His home-ice .939 save percentage is the best in program history.

Connelly, who covers Hockey East, began writing for USCHO in 1999 and has covered every Frozen Four since 2000.  In 2012, he received the Joe Concannon Hockey East Media Award.

Throwback Thursday
Twenty-five years ago today, March 10, 1991, BU won its second Hockey East tournament championship, defeating top-seed Maine, 4-3 on Shawn McEachern’s overtime goal. The All-American from Waltham, Mass., took a Tony Amonte pass in full stride at the Black Bears’ blueline, beat a defender and backhanded a shot through Garth Snow’s five hole. The ’90-’91 Terriers would go on to the NCAA title game, falling to Northern Michigan in triple overtime.
