More
than $55,000 was raised at last night’s Comm Ave Charity Classic, held at
Walter Brown Arena as former Terriers and Eagles put on a show for the
fans. In a predictably high-scoring
contest, BU knotted the score at six apiece early in the third period on a Pete
MacArthur goal, but the visitors took charge and pulled away, eventually adding
two empty-netters for a 13-8 win.
The fund-raiser benefited Compassionate Care ALS and the Travis Roy Foundation.
Jack
Parker was behind the Terrier bench and longtime rival Jerry York coached the
BC alums.
“It brings back a lot of memories,” said Chris
Higgins, who was part of BU’s 2009 national title team. “In the locker room and
on the bench, guys were just talking about the good old days. [And Jack Parker]
came in after one of the periods, joking around, and started yelling at us
trying to pick it up.”
Current
Penguin Nick Bonino (left) and Bruins assistant coach Jay Pandolfo are two of the
three Terriers who have won both an NCAA championship and the Stanley Cup. The third is Chris Drury.
