Recruits: one in, one out

The make-up of the first recruit class of the Jay Pandolfo era changed a bit over the weekend as a right-shot BCHL defenseman was added while another changed his commitment.

The departure was by West Kelowna defenseman Charles-Alexis Legault, now committed to Quinnipiac. The new recruit is Lachlan Getz, a 6-3, 20 year old blueliner with the Chilliwack Chiefs.

A Northfield, Illinois, native, Getz had previously been committed to Union College. In 54 regular-season games, he had a 3-19-22 scoring line for the Chiefs and was co-winner of the team’s award for top defenseman. In the post-season, he scored a pair of goals in Chilliwacks’ game-seven win in the first playoff round.

Chiefs Associate Coach Brad Rihela describes Getz as "an elite puck mover, with a high offensive ceiling and the ability to play against the oppositions top players."

A broken foot had kept him sidelined for all but two games of his first BCHL season. Previously, he prepped for four seasons at The Lawrenceville School, captaining the squad as a senior, scoring 31 points in 31 games and earning Defenseman of the Year in New Jersey honors from the Trenton Times.

Getz also played for the Jersey River Rats 18U AAA and skated in the World Selects Invitational for three seasons with the West Coast Selects. He was drafted by Waterloo in the USHL Futures Draft and by St. Cloud in the NAHL supplemental draft.

The other blueliner in BU's 2022 recruit class is NTDP U18 LD Lane Hutson.
