USCHO’s Spotlight college hockey podcast series kicked off its fifth season with Jay Pandolfo discussing this year’s Terriers and the career path that led him back to BU. (Note: listen to the hosts’’ discussion following the interview).

USCHO has posted previews for each Division 1 conference. In the Hockey East preview, the #9/12 Terriers, picked for second in the recent conference coaches’ poll, are projected to finish third, behind defending regular-season champion Northeastern and tournament champion UMass.

Freshman Quinn Hutson spoke with the Boston Hockey Blog about his decision to follow younger brother Lane Hutson to BU, how their paths to Agganis Arena differed and how his family’s friendship with Clayton Keller’s family played a role.

Freshman Ryan Greene and junior Drew Commesso accounted for two of the five top Hockey East plays of the week. Greene earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Commesso, along with freshmen Lane Hutson and Jeremy Wilmer, was named to the conference top performers list.

►CollegeHockeyInc.com has produced a list of sons of NHLers currently playing college hockey. Tristan Amonte, son of ex-Terrier Tony Amonte is only one currently at BU, although his brother, Ty Amonte, now at UConn, spent five seasons as a Terrier.
Among sons of NHLer who suited up for BU in the past: Brady Tkachuk (Keith Tkachuk), Tyler Boucher (Brian Boucher), Danny O’Regan (Tom O’Regan), Kiefer Bellows (Brian Bellows), Colin Wilson (Carey Wilson) Chris Bourque (Raymond Bourque), Brad MacGregor (Bruce MacGregor), Scott King (Dave King). Next season Shane Lachance (Scott Lachance) joins the Terriers.

Looking back
David Quinn and the San Jose Sharks are in Prague, along with John Hynes and the Nashville Predators for a pair of games tomorrow and Saturday in the season-opening NHL 2022 Global Series. In advance of the games, Quinn, who was named head coach in July by General Manager Mike Grier, led a clinic for nearly 300 coaches. He was joined by former Calgary Flames head coach Geoff Ward and Ulf Samuelsson.
Quinn also had added Nick Bonino to the Sharks
leadership, awarding him an “A.” San Jose's Matt Nieto and Nashville's Dante Fabbro will also be on the ice in Prague.

Sahir Gill, who has played the last few seasons in Germany, has signed on with the Vegas Golden Knights’ AHL affiliate, Henderson Silver Nights. Last season he had 56 points in 52 games for EV Landshut . Gill had turned pro after three seasons as a Terrier.
Evan Rodrigues, recently signed by Colorado, scored a goal and added an assist in the Avs’ 3-1 exhibition win against Dallas. A versatile forward, he’s currently playing center and hopes to earn a top six spot.

Alex Chiasson, in the Arizona camp on a PTO, scored a power play goal in the Coyotes’ 4-3 loss to Vegas.
Women’s Team
Terriers open the regular season by hosting RPI on Friday night and Union on Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena. Friday's puck drop is set for 7 p.m; Saturday's is at 4 p.m.Two weeks ago, BU defeated Moncton, 5-1, in an exhibition game.
BU's top returning scorers are senior Julia Nearis (20 points) and sophomores Lacey Martin and Catherine Foulem (12 points each). Senior Nadia Mattivi (12 points) and freshman Brooke Disher anchor the defense in front of last season's All-Rookie goalie Callie Shanahan (2.32 GA).
The Engineers, who opened their season last weekend with a pair of losses to St. Cloud, had a 9-23-0 record last season but took a 4-2 decision from the Terriers in Troy.
