Bye Week Linkorama

No games for the men’s team this weekend, but there is BU Hockey news.


Freshman Lane Hutson was named Hockey East's Defender of the Month for October. Senior Captain Dom Fensore had earned the same honor last February.

►When BU and BC face off for the first time this season--Dec. 9 at Conte Forum--John Buccigross and Colby Cohen will be on hand for the ESPN+. Cohen, who scored the overtime game-winner in the 2009 national championship game, also is a studio analyst for Chicago Blackhawks games on NBC Sports.

► We’ve added a new a new media link in the side bar: College Hockey History. Check it out.

► College Hockey Inc.’s list of former collegians in NHL front offices includes 24 Terriers (well, it will be 24 when Tony Amonte, now a Panthers scout is added). Among the BU contingent: one team president (Chris Drury), two general managers (Drury, Mike Grier), an assistant GM (Jeff Kealty) three NHL head coaches (John Hynes, David Quinn, Mike Sullivan) and one AHL head coach (John McCarthy)

►Hockey on Campus, hosted by Bernie Corbett, returns for its 13th season on SiriusXM (Channel 91). It airs Saturday 9:00 AM and Sunday at 8:00 A.M.

 

Looking ahead

2024 recruit Kamil Bendarik scored the game-winner and added an assist for Team USA in its opening game 5-3 win against Finland at the World U17 Challenge in Langley, B.C. A left-shot center from Elmhurst, Ill., Bednarik has a 3-4-7 line in 10 games.

As the tournament began, FloHockey,tv’s Chris Peters called out 15 players to watch, including 2023 or 2024 recruit Macklin Celebrini (Canada Black) and 2024 recruit Cole Hutson (NTDP U17s).


Celebrini was named USHL Forward of the Week following his first-period hat trick (plus an assist) in Chicago’s 7-1 win against Green Bay.


Looking back

Joel Farabee scored his third goal in Philadelphia’s 5-2 loss to Toronto.

Brady Tkachuk assisted on three goals but the Senators dropped a 5-4 decision to Vegas. 

Jack Eichel added an assist for the Golden Knights.

Charlie Coyle scored his fifth goal in the Bruins 5-2 win against the Rangers.


Women’s Team

Terriers will look to build off last Saturday’s win when they begin a home-and-home series with Providence. Tonight's game is at Walter Brown Arena with puck drop at 7 p.m. The teams head down Rt. 95 to Schneider Rink for Saturday's matinee. Puck drop is at 3 p.m. Both contests will stream on ESPN+.
