Looking ahead

We’ve added the four ’06 recruits who committed last week to the recruit list in the sidebar. When BU posts the 2022-23 roster, we’ll delete the six incoming freshmen from the recruit list.

2023 recruit RD Gavin McCarthy earned 3rd star honors in two of the five games played by the US 18U Selects in the Hlinka-Gretzky Tournament. The former Buffalo Jr. Sabre, who says he styles his game after Charlie McAvoy, also represented Team USA. a year ago as a member of the USA 17U selects. He will return to Muskegon for his second USHL season, joined by recent commit LD Owen Keefe, who, like McCarthy, was tendered by the Lumberjacks.

Looking back

The Montreal Canadians officially named former BU head coach Albie O’Connell as the head of its U.S. scouting. Former Terrier assistant Len Quesnelle is going to become a scout for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Chris Bourque, who recently ended his long pro career primarily in the AHL and Europe, will have his jersey retired by the Hershey Bears in January. In nine season with the Bears, Bourque produced 586 points (196G, 390A) and led the team to three Calder Cup titles (2006, 2009, 2010).

The son of long-time Bruins all-star Ray Bourque, Chris played one season with the Terriers and earned MVP honors in the 2005 Beanpot.

HersheyBears.com Bears to Retire Chris Bourque's Number 17 on Jan. 15
