Poll Story

Both national pre-season polls are out. In the DCU/USCHO poll, the Terriers are ranked #12.  BU is one of five Hockey East teams in the top 20. Northeastern is #8, UMass #10, Providence #15 and UMass Lowell #17. Early-season opponent Michigan is #6.

Terriers are two notches lower, #14, in the pre-season USA Today + USA Hockey Magazine Poll.

Looking ahead

2023 recruit Shane Lachance has been named captain of USHL Youngtown. The 6'4", 210 lb. left wing from Andover, Massachusetts had an 11-12-23 scoring line in his first season with the Phantoms and has scored three goals in the team's last two exhibition games. Shane, who is the son of former Terrier and NHL defenseman Scott Lachance and the grandson of legendary BU head coach Jack Parker, says he models his power forward game after Ottawa Senators captain and former Terrier Brady Tkachuk. 2024 recruit Brandon Svoboda also is on the Youngstown roster.

Looking back

New San Jose Coach David Quinn spoke with NHL.com's Amalie Benjamin about relaunching his NHL coaching career with the Sharks and lessons learned from his time behind the Rangers' bench.

Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now reports that newly signed Av Evan Rodrigues will be wearing #9, the number he had in Pittsburgh. He spent the summer training in Boston, skating with his Terrier linemate, Jack Eichel, and several Bruins.

Arizona's Clayton Keller, recovering from a broken leg suffered on March 30, says he expects to be ready to begin the season. Keller led the Coyotes in goals with 28 and had the second best points total, 63, despite missing 15 regular-season game.

Philly Hockey Now reports that left wing Joel Farabee may be ready to go for the Flyers when the season begins or shortly afterwards.  The Cicero, NY native underwent disc replacement surgery in June. Last season he had 17 goals and 17 assists in 63 games.

Corey Trivino, who had been a top scorer in the second division of Germany hockey, has switched teams and is joining Eisbaren Regensburg, another DEL2 team. As a Terrier freshman, Trivino played on the 2009 national championship team.
