#3 Terriers take on their second out-of-conference opponent tonight
as they host Union College in a 7 p.m. start. The contest, which live streams
on ESPN+, is the first of seven doubleheaders for the men’s and women’s teams
at Agganis Arena.
BU is coming off a solid opening night win against Holy
Cross that saw co-captain Ryan Greene score twice, while freshmen Cole
Eiserman, Cole Hutson and Alex Zetterberg all recorded their first collegiate
goal. Greene and linemates Shane Lachance and Quinn Hutson each had three
points.
Matthieu Caron was strong between the pipes, stopping 29 shots including a 5-bell robbery on a power-play shot by the Crusaders’ top forward. He enters the weekend second among active Division I goaltenders with 2,401 saves.

The teams last met five years ago this month with BU winning, 7-3, at Union’s soon-to-be-replaced Messa Rink. The series record has BU on top, 3-2-1.
Formerly known as the Dutchmen, but now the Garnet Chargers,
Union was #8 in the ECAC preseason coaches poll. Union defeated Stonehill last night, 4-2, rallying with the goals in the third period. Last weekend, Union lost an exhibition game to Providence, 4-1, and then
edged Army in overtime, 4-3. Both were home games.
Defenseman John Prokop, named to the ECAC Preseason All-Star Team, scored the overtime goal against Army and is the top returning scorer with 35 points (7G,28A). Returning forwards Nate Hanely (26 points), Brandon Buhr (14), Caden Villegras (30) and Josh Nixon (27) pace the attack. Freshman Ben Muthersbaugh had two assists and seven shots against Army.
Transfers Brendan Miles (Michigan) and Josh Phillips
(Minnesota) bolster the blueline.
Junior goalie Kyle Chauvette (3.05/.893) was 15-16- last
season. He was a teammate of Lachance and Brandon Svoboda in the USHL.
