Roster announced; recruit class introductions--UPDATED



The roster for the 2018-19 Terriers has been posted on the BU Athletics Web site. Head Coach Albie O’Connell’s squad features 2 seniors, 2 red-shirt juniors, 7 juniors, 7 sophomores, 7 freshmen and one graduate transfer. The eight newcomers were introduced on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

Looking ahead

2019 recruit Robert Mastrosimone scored a pair of shorthanded goals in the Chicago Steel’s opening game loss to the Lincoln Stars, 5-4 in overtime. Mastrosimone, who played in last week's All-American Prospects game, earned USHL All-Rookie honors last season with 45 points in 60 games.

Women’s Team

Led by captains Reagan Rust, Sammy Davis and Natasza Tarnowski, the Terriers host the Durham Lightning tonight (Friday) in an exhibition game at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Pre-season national poll: Terriers pegged at #8--UPDATED




USCHO’s pre-season D-1 poll ranks BU at #8 with the top spot held by defending national champion Minnesota Duluth. Three other Hockey East teams were ranked in the top 20: Providence #5, BC #12 and Northeastern #15.

Four conferences have announced their preseason polls: ECAC, with Cornell ranked #1; The Big 10, with Ohio State top-ranked; the WCHA with Minnesota State (BU’s first regular-season opponent) at #1; and Atlantic Hockey with Air Force at #1. Results of the Hockey East media poll will be announced next Sunday.






Looking ahead

2020 recruit Luke Tuch (photo) scored the tying goal in the final minute of regulation and the game-winner in overtime in the NTDP U17s 4-3 win against the WBS Knights at the NAHL Showcase. For the 6’1” power forward, it was his third game-winner in the U17s’ four games and the second in overtime. Fellow 2020 recruit Drew Commesso stopped all 11 shots he faced.

On Friday, Tuch scored the game-winner in the NTDP U17s’ 4-3 win over the Northeast Generals at the NAHL Showcase. Commesso stopped 14 shots in 30 minutes in goal.

2019 recruits Trevor Zegras and Dom Fensore recorded assists in the NTDP U18s’ 6-3 win against Muskegon.



2019 recruit Robert Mastrosimone (photo) scored a goal and added an assist in USHL Chicago’s 5-2 win over Central Illinois. Last season, he scored 45 points for the Steel, earning USHL All-Rookie honors.



2019 recruit Vinnie Purpura made 15 saves in USHL Omaha’s 3-2 loss to Lincoln.



2021 recruit Danil Zhilkin (Toronto Marlboros Minor Midget) is profiled by Prospect Pipeline, which reports:

A natural goal-scorer, Zhilkin has an elite shot and a nose for the net. He skates well and has a knack for being in the right position at the right time. Overall, the league’s most potent shooter.

Prospect Pipeline’s September rankings of players eligible for the 2019 OHL Priority Draft has Zhilkin at #2 and fellow 2021 recruit Roman Schmidt, a defenseman, at #3.



Looking back

Former Terrier captain and current Penguins coach Mike Sullivan recently took a leave of absence following the passing of his father, George. He has since returned to the Pittsburgh bench.
