Oettinger, Fabbro make pro debuts



Jake Oettinger led the AHL Texas Stars to a 4-1 win against Iowa in his professional debut. Oettinger stopped 23 of 24 shots

Dante Fabbro made his pro debut with Nashville in the Predators’ 5-2 loss to Columbus. The defenseman, who co-captained the Terriers this season, had 16:12 in ice time, three shots and three hits, and finished -1 for the game.

Looking ahead


2019 recruit Trevor Zegras scored his 26th goal and added an assist in the NTDP U18s’ 8-1 rout of Youngstown. He has 78 points in 54 games. Domenick Fensore recorded an assist and has 38 points, second among U18 defensemen.

2019 recruit Robert Mastrosimone scored his 30th and added an assist in Chicago’s 7-5 loss to Waterloo.  He’s tied for third in the USHL in goal-scoring and tied for seventh in scoring with 59 points.



2019 recruit Sean Driscoll assisted on both Janesville goals in the Jets’ 4-2 loss to Minnesota. A 6’2”, left-shot defenseman, Driscoll is fourth on the Jets in scoring with 27 points and third on the team with +6.

2020 recruit Braden Doyle, a defenseman at Lawrence Academy, skated in two games for the USHL Dubuque Fighting Saints, the team he'll play for in 2019-20. Doyle was named the 2019 recipient of the Boston Bruins’ John Carlton Memorial Trophy, presented to the high school senior who combines exceptional hockey skills with academic excellence.  Previous winners include Ty Amonte and Charlie Coyle.

Bowers signs with Avs; O'Connell addresses departures



Shane Bowers became the fifth underclassman to turn pro, signing a three-year entry-level contract with Colorado, beginning with the 2019-2020 season. He’ll join the Avs’ AHL team, after signing an ATO with the Colorado Eagles. Bowers, a Hockey East All-Rookie selection as a freshman, had 21 points last season. Originally drafted #27 overall by Ottawa, his rights were acquired by the Avs in November, 2017.

Head Coach Albie O’Connell talked with CHN’s Mike McMahon about the five early departures, most of which had been anticipated “for two seasons” The three juniors who turned pro—Dante Fabbro, Chad Krys and Jake Oettinger—will earn their degrees this summer. O’Connell noted, “Each one of the juniors were offered contracts last year and decided to come back to BU. They've all taken summer courses and they're all leaving with their degree.

2019 recruit Robert Mastrosimone scored his 29th goal and added an assist in Chicago’s 5-4 overtime loss to Madison.  Mastrosimone, who recently scored his 100th career point with the Steel, is tied for eighth in the USHL with 57 points.

Jack Eichel scored his 27th goal in Buffalo’s 5-4 OT loss to Detroit.

Alex Chiasson’s two assists in Tuesday’s Oilers’ 8-4 win gave him 36 points, setting a new personal scoring mark. His 21 goals also are a career best.

Danny O’Regan scored his 20th goal in AHL Rochester’s 4-2 win against Laval.

John McCarthy scored a pair of first-period goals in AHL San Jose’s 4-0 blanking of Ontario.

Carpenter signs with Islanders; 2020 recruit Doyle wins Carlton Award


Senior co-captain Bobo Carpenter has signed a two-year, two-way, entry-level contract with the New York Islanders. Carpenter, who missed 11 games with injuries this season, scored 19 points and brought his career total to 102 points. As a junior he scored 35 points and earned second team Hockey East All-Star honors and was a member of the 2017 Hockey East All-Academic team.

Chad Krys scored his first pro point in AHL Rockford's 4-2 loss to Milwaukee.

2019 recruit Trevor Zegras scored a pair of goals in the NTDP U18s’ 6-2 win against Youngstown. His 74 points (23G, 51A) are third best on the U18s. Domenick Fensore assisted on Zegras’ first goal with a strong headman pass. He now has 34 points.
