Baby Pens Curry-On

John Curry and the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins put the old cliche "snatching victory from the jaws of defeat" back into play with a remarkable game 6 comeback and a final-minute win in game 7 to oust Portland in the AHL Calder Cup Eastern Conference Championship. The Pens trailed 3-0 after two periods in the sixth game, but Curry held the Pirates scoreless in the third and overtime while his teammates came roaring back to score four times. Curry stopped 30 of 32 shots in game 7, with the Pen's game-winner coming at 19:31 of the third.

In 17 post-season decisions, Curry has won 12 and lost 5, with a 2.47 GAA and a .908 save percentage. The Calder Cup finals against Chicago begins tomorrow.
