Congratulations to former Terrier All-American goalie John Curry on his first NHL appearance and first NHL win. The 2007 Hockey East Player of the Year entered last night’s Penguins-Islanders game midway in the second period with Pittsburgh trailing 3-0. In just over 30 minutes, Curry turned aside all 11 shots he faced, while the Pens rallied with five unanswered goals, three from Evgeni Malkin.
Curry later told the media,” "I didn't have time to think. All I could do was just go in and play. Believe me, it was very nerve-racking." Recaps from the Post-Gazette and ESPN.com. Video. Plus a feature on Curry prior to last night’s game.
Curry became the sixth Terrier netminder to play in the NHL, joining Rick DiPietro, Jim Craig, Cleon Daskalakis, Michel Larocque and John Aiken.
