Bobo notches first as a pro

Bobo Carpenter, who scored his first pro goal on Friday, wrote a thank you note to the BU coaches, his teammates, the BU Band and Terrier fans that was published in The Boston Hockey Blog

In his second pro start, Jake Oettinger stopped 23 of 24 shots in AHL Texas's 2-1 win against Rockford. Chad Krys had two of the shots for the IceHogs.

With Dante Fabbro now playing on the Nashville blueline, BU has the fourth most players in the NHL with 20. Minnesota has 22, while North Dakota and BC each have 21.

BUToday spoke with longtime BU hockey trainer Larry Venis, who reached the 1,000 games milestone this season.

Harvard goalie Michael Lackey, who entered the NCAA graduate transfer portal and looked at several Hockey East schools, including BU, has decided to play for Providence next season.

Looking ahead
Three 2021 recruits, forwards Tyler Boucher (Avon Old Farms) and Jeremy Wilmer (North Jersey Avalanche 16U) and defenseman Roman Schmidt (Don Mills Flyers Midget) have earned roster spots on the 2019-2020 NTDP U17s.

At the USA Hockey nationals, Wilmer and 2022 recruit Devin Kaplan have led the Avalanche into the quarterfinals of the Tier 1, 16U tournament. After three preliminary round games, Wilmer is the 16U top scorer with seven points, while Kaplan is the leading goal-scorer with four, including a pair of game winners.  Kaplan is a 15-year-old playing up with the Avs, who play the St. Louis Blues today.

In the 18U Division, 2019 recruit Liam Gorman and 2020 recruit Liam Connors and the Boston Jr. Eagles moved into the quarterfinals. Connors has three goals and an assist, while Gorman has one assist. Both played for St. Sebastian’s last season.  The Eagles play Northwood Prep today.

In the 14U Division, 2022 recruit Lane Hutson and Honeybaked advanced to the quarterfinals. Hutson, a defenseman whose brother, Quinn, plays for the 16U Avalanche, had a goal and an assist in preliminary round games. Honeybaked plays Pittsburgh Pens Elite today.
