Lake Placid Olympic Gold 40th Anniversary

Former Terrier and Olympic captain Mike Eruzione talked with NHL.com as part of its coverage of the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Olympic gold medal in 1980

Eruzione and his Olympic teammates will be honored in Las Vegas on Friday, Feb. 22, the anniversary of their upset win over the Soviet Union.  On Sunday, Feb. 23, NHL Network will air the movie, “Miracle,” at 7:30 ET.



On Saturday, Feb. 29, during the BU-BC game at Agganis Arena, the four Terrier members of the 1980 gold-medal team—Eruzione, Jim Craig, Jack O’Callahan and Dave Silk—will be honored.

ESPN’s John Buccigross posted his list of the top 20 American-born hockey players, which included a trio of Terriers: #5 Jack Eichel, #9 Keith Tkachuk and #15 Tony Amonte.



Charlie McAvoy (3) and Charlie Coyle (14) each scored a goal in the Bruins’ 3-1 win against David Quinn’s Rangers.




Clayton Keller scored his 13th goal in Arizona’s 2-1 win against the Islanders.




Women’s Team

Terriers completed a weekend sweep of New Hampshire, blanking the Wildcats again, 2-0. Sophomore Kate Stuart stopped 17 shots to gain her first career shutout and improve her record to 8-1-1.  Goal scorers were Jesse Compher and Sammy Davis.



BU, which moved up to #8 in the USCHO weekly rankings, will be the second seed in the Hockey East tournament, hosting either Maine or New Hampshire. Terriers conclude the regular season next week with a pair of home games against Connecticut.
