2022-23 schedule announced; Kaplan shines at Flyers' camp; updated roster projections

Terriers have announced the full 2022-23 schedule that, in addition to 24 Hockey East contests, offers the strongest out-of-conference schedule in recent years. There will be 14 regular-season home games, plus two home exhibitions. The OOC schedule will include home games against Notre Dame, Harvard, and Cornell, appearances in the Desert Hockey Classic and the 70th Beanpot Tournament and a two-game set at Michigan.

BU opens the season at home against Bentley on Oct. 1, before playing an exhibition game on Oct. 8 versus Waterloo, followed a week later with the trip to Yost Arena for games on Friday and Sunday.

The Fighting Irish will visit on Thanksgiving Eve with another exhibition, against the NTDP U18s set for Nov. 26. The Harvard contest on Dec. 30 will be played at Walter Brown Arena.

BU begins the new year in Tempe, Arizona playing Air Force in the Desert Hockey Classic with the second game opponent to be either Arizona State or Michigan Tech.

After a midweek home game against UMass, the Big Red visit BU for the first time since the teams split a pair of games at Walter Brown in Nov. 2001. The Terriers final out-of-conference games are the Beanpot opener—a rematch of last February’s final vs. Northeastern—and the second round against BC or Harvard.

He also is a color analyst on ESPN’s coverage of the NCAA championships. Cohen later tweeted: "Ryan Greene has some serious skill. Excited to watch him grow his game at BU."

Nine Terriers were named to the 2021-22 Hockey East All-Academic Team. Jamie Armstrong was a third-time honoree. Joe Campolieto, Drew Commesso, Ethan Phillips, Wilmer Skoog and Cade Webber are two-time honorees. John Copeland and Vinny Duplessis were recognized for the first time. Looking ahead

Incoming freshman forward Devin Kaplan, selected early in the third round by Philadelphia, made a strong impression at Flyers development camp. The 6'3", 204 lb., right wing, comes to BU after a 38-point season with the NTDP U18s including six points in six games at the IIFH World U18 Championships. The Bridgewater, NJ native was ranked No. 4 in the "most competitive player" category among the NHL scouts polled for the 2022 Recruits Draft Guide.

2024 recruit Brandon Svodboda, who completed in the recent USA Hockey Select 17 tournament, had 50 points in 50 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 16U AAA team. He also was called up twice to the 18U squad and had three starts for Youngstown, scoring his first USHL goal for the team that had drafted him in 2021. It remains to be seen whether he’ll join the Phantoms for the upcoming season.

@BurntBoats has updated his Roster Projections for the next four seasons. BU will look to add a third goalie for the upcoming season after Ashton Abel's departure and forward Jack Gorton may be part of the 2022 recruit class.
