Women defeat Northeastern; Monday Night Leftovers; Milestone for Grzelcyk

Sophomore Alex Law's overtime goal sent the #14 Terriers to a 3-2 win over Northeastern. BU held a 2-0 lead deep into the third period before the Huskies rallied to tie the score.

The win, BU's first at Matthews Arena since the 2015-16 season, gave the Terriers a 2-1 edge in the regular season series with Northeastern. BU, now 19-8-1 overall and 16-4-1 in the conference, remains in first place in Hockey East, four points ahead of UConn and nine ahead of the Huskies.

BU opened the scoring midway through the first period when Kaileigh Quigg converted the rebound of a Lindsay Bochna shot.

Terriers doubled the lead on a late second-period power play. Clara Yuhn took a centering pass from Sydney Healey and wristed it home.

BU's two-period shot total was 26 to NU's 10, but the third period was just the opposite. The Huskies fired 24 shots to BU's three. Terriers hung onto the lead until NU scored twice in the final six minutes to send the game to overtime.

With less than a minute remaining in overtime, Law gathered a puck in the neutral zone, raced up the left side and from the left circle wired a shot past goalie Lisa Jönsson's glove for her second goal of the season.
