►College Hockey News' Preseason Top 10 pegs the Terriers in the #3 slot behind Western Michigan and Michigan State. (Compare with the USCHO poll).
3. Boston University
The Terriers are the clear-cut favorite in Hockey East. Mikhail Yegorov stabilized BU’s crease last year and nearly carried them to a national championship. Without him, they don’t reach St. Louis.
He’s back for a full season, supported by elite talent up front. Amid all the chatter about CHL imports this fall, it’s worth asking: Have people forgotten about Cole Hutson and Cole Eiserman? The pair isn’t getting the hype they deserve.
Eiserman and Hutson have been named to College Hockey News' All-CHN Preseason Team. Yegorov claims the second-team goalie slot. All three are sophomores. Hutson was national rookie of the year last season, while Eiserman led all first-year goal scorers and Big Mike's arrival fueled BU's drive to the Frozen Four.
Joining the "Cole Train" (© Mark Linehan) on the first team are UConn's Joey Muldowney, Penn State's Gavin McKenna, North Dakota's Jake Livanavage and Michigan State's Trey Augustine.

Looking ahead
Elite Prospects’s new 2026 draft projection has four Terrier recruits in the top 30: Tynan Lawrence, who has been named Muskegon’s captain; Braidy Wassilyn, Yegor Shilov and Luke Schairer, who made the All-Star team at last week’s USHL Fall Classic.
TheHockeyWriters.com's Peter Baracchini's top 32 includes three Terrier recruits.
4. Tynan Lawrence, C, Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL)
Tynan Lawrence stands out and makes himself known with his ability to create quality looks any chance he gets. He’s got unbelievable skill, a battler’s mindset and work ethic as he’s all over the ice zoning in on the puck. He’s just as responsible and impactful defensively, breaking up plays and quickly transitioning the other way. He’s a competitive centre that does it all, as he’s strong positionally, anticipating plays and taking advantage of opponent’s mistakes. He was just under a point per game in the USHL with 54 in 56 and added another 18 points in the playoffs as MVP.
24. Caleb Malhotra, C, Brantford Bulldogs (OHL)
The son of former NHLer, Manny Malhotra, Caleb is an elite level playmaker that has great attention to detail on both sides of the puck, deceptiveness, IQ and hands to bait players effortlessly. His head is always up scanning the ice for passing options and has the ability to always find his teammates and connect with them. He has great positional awareness always finding the open spaces to sneak in past defenders undetected for quality chances on net. He has three points to start his OHL career and I feel that he can continue to rise all season.
31. Braidy Wassilyn, C, Niagara IceDogs (NCAA)
With 39 points in 62 games, it was a decent rookie season for Braidy Wassilyn. He’s a crafty and deceptive playmaker, showing great puck skills and control. He challenges players constantly with his speed and is always finding ways to get around them with ease. However, he tends to be streaky and needs to find more consistency to his game. If he can elevate his game, the sky will be the limit as he has the skill-set. He’s committed to Boston University for next season.
2026 recruit Caleb Malhotra, who is centering Brantford's top line, could make it a Terrier Trifecta in the OHL.

Looking back
All 15 players who moved on from last season’s national finalist squad are either playing professional hockey or, in the case of three, have transferred to other schools.
Seven are in NHL training camps: Ryan Greene (Chicago), Quinn Hutson & Matt Copponi (Edmonton), Devin Kaplan (Philadelphia), Shane Lachance (N.J.), Jack Hughes (Los Angeles), Tom Willander (Vancouver). Four are playing minor-league hockey: Brehdan Engum (Norfolk), Billy Girard IV (Huntsville), Tristan Amonte (Savannah) and Jack Page (Reading). Mathieu Caron is playing in France. Three players transferred: Doug Grimes to Miami, Alex Zetterberg to Minnesota State and Jack Gorton to RPI (we’ll see him in two weeks).
In exhibition action, Willander recorded a pair of assists—one on a power play—as Vancouver defeated Calgary, 3-1.

— Boston Hockey Blog (@BOShockeyblog) September 25, 2025
“Lexie [Bertelsen] and Anežka [Cabelová] for sure. Even Jackie [Wright] in net, I know she’s our third, but she is definitely pushing the pace in practice.”
