More coverage of the SFX game; Looking ahead and looking back

Scott Weighart’s USCHO recap of Saturday's exhibition game notes that Coach Jack Parker felt defenseman Sean Escobedo (photo) was the most poised of the freshman in the game. The Boston Hockey Blog reviews the performance of BU's seven freshman skaters.

Looking ahead
Recent 2010 commit Adam Clendening of the U.S. NTDP U18s scored his first goal of the season today in a 4-2 loss to the University of Michigan. Clendening will skate at Agganis next Saturday in BU’s second exhibition game.

Alexx Privitera ( see pg.30), who committed to BU for 2011 the same day that Clendening verballed, also scored his first goal this season in the NTDP U17s' 10-5 loss to the Chicago Steel. The Steel, for whom Terrier freshman Max Nicastro played the past two season, received a goal and three assists from Sahir Gill, a highly regarded forward from Abbottsford, B.C.. USHR reports that Gill has narrowed his college choices to BU, Minnesota, North Dakota.

Fellow 2010 recruit Charlie Coyle continues to wield a hot hand for the South Shore Kings, adding four assists in two weekend games. He now has tallied 19 points (5-14) in seven games to lead the EJHL in scoring.

Looking back
Joe Sacco’s Colorado Avalanche won its first game with the former Terrier forward behind the bench., beating San Jose 5-2. The Avs also won their second game, beating Vancouver, 3-0.

Meanwhile, the Avs' AHL affiliate, Lake Erie Monsters, won its initial regular-season game, 3-2, against Rochester in David Quinn’s regular season debut as head coach. Brandon Yip is out of the lineup with a broken hand.

Jason Lawrence, who led last season’s Terriers in goals with 25 goals and 14 power play markers, has been invited to the training camp of the ECHL’s Charlotte Checkers after participating in Boston Bruins’ and Providence Bruins’ training camps. He’ll be reunited on the Checkers with former Terrier teammates Kenny Roche and Kevin Schaeffer.
