● Somerby is participating in Islanders development camp, where the Blue and White scrimmage will be streamed on Islanders.com on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Two current Terriers, senior Sean Escobedo--a Long Island native--and junior Patrick MacGregor also are in the Isles camp.

Incoming recruit Matthew Lane wasn’t drafted, but garnered an invitation to Montreal Canadians’ development camp.

Anaheim has sent a qualifying offer to center Nick Bonino to retain negotiating rights to the pending restricted free agent. Bonino has until July 15 to accept the offer but can't do so before July 1.

Sixty-eight current or recruited college hockey players—including 20 with Hockey East connections— were selected in the 2012 NHL. Eight of those picks are BU recruits.

Eight future Terriers picked in draft

Eight BU recruits were selected on day two of the NHL draft, led by Sam Kurker, picked
56th overall and third round selection Matt Grzelcyk (photo), taken by his hometown Bruins. CSNNE.com's Joe Haggerty notes that Grzelcyk's Dad has been a member of the Bull Gang at Boston's TD Garden (and previously at Boston Garden) for 40 years.

Sean Maguire 4th round-Pittsburgh
Doyle Somerby 5th round-New York Islanders
Robbie Baillargeon 5th round-Ottawa
Danny O’Regan 5th round-San Jose
Wes Myron 6th round -Vancouver
Brendan Collier-7th round-Carolina 

Of the eight, five--Kurker, Grzelcyk, Maguire, O'Regan and Myron--are 2012 recruits. Somerby, Baillargeon and Collier will arrive in 2013.
