Terrier Women eliminated by Minnesota

BU hung in with top seed Minnesota for two periods, but finally buckled under a Gopher onslaught in the final period and dropped a 5-1 decision in the NCAA quarterfinals.

BU, in its ninth varsity season, was making its fifth consecutive NCAA appearance, visiting Minnesota at Ridder Arena. The hosts scored midway through the first period, but 21 seconds later, Sarah Lefort, the nation’s top goal-scorer, ripped her 32nd off the goalie’s shoulder following a pass from Lilian Braga.  The Gophers went back on top in the second period, thanks to two BU penalties. In the third period, Minnesota tallied three more times, with Kelly Terry completing a hat trick, for the win.

Senior goalie Kerrin Sperry (photo) turned aside 41 shots in her final game in the BU goal, as the Terrier finish the season with a 24-13-1 record.
