A Medford, Mass., product who starred at Malden
Catholic, Tkachuk played just one season for BU, skating with Shawn McEachern
and Tony Amonte on the 1990-91 squad that won the Hockey East Championship and reached
the NCAA championship game. He went on to become a premier power forward in the
NHL, playing 18 seasons and scoring 538
goals—including two 50-goal seasons—and 527 assists. He would skate on
three U.S. Olympic teams, including the silver medal squad in 2002.
The goal scored by freshman Robbie Baillargeon in last
Friday’s 4-1 win made Hockey East’s video
reel of top goals of the week. The center from Enfield, Conn., is the
Terriers’ top scorer with 25 points.

against Northeastern on Saturday in Hyannis, Mass. At stake is a third consecutive trip to the Hockey East championship game.

Three Terriers were recognized with Hockey East awards
announced this week. Freshman Maddie Elia (8 goals, 9 assists) was named to
the All-Rookie team, captain Louis Warren won the Three Stars Award and sophomore
Sarah Lefort was the Squad Locker Scoring Champion with a 19-17-36 scoring
line. Senior Kaleigh Fratkin (4-15-19) was
runner-up for the conference Best Defenseman title.

Looking ahead
2014 recruits Victoria Bach and Rebecca Leslie, both
high-scoring forwards from Ontario, were named to Canada’s U18
squad for the IIHF World Championships in Hungary.
