Tkachuk and Somerby featured on Inside BU Hockey

Episode 20 of Inside BU Hockey features Bernie Corbett’s interviews with Head Coach David Quinn, freshman defenseman Doyle Somerby and former Terrier power forward and NHL all-star Keith Tkachuk

A Medford, Mass., product who starred at Malden Catholic, Tkachuk played just one season for BU, skating with Shawn McEachern and Tony Amonte on the 1990-91 squad that won the Hockey East Championship and reached the NCAA championship game. He went on to become a premier power forward in the NHL, playing 18 seasons and scoring 538 goals—including two 50-goal seasons—and 527 assists. He would skate on three U.S. Olympic teams, including the silver medal squad in 2002.

The goal scored by freshman Robbie Baillargeon in last Friday’s 4-1 win made Hockey East’s video reel of top goals of the week. The center from Enfield, Conn., is the Terriers’ top scorer with 25 points.

The Daily Free Press talked with senior co-captain Garrett Noonan about his expanded role on the BU blueline.

Looking back
The Hockey Writers interviewed former Terrier Matt Nieto about his path from Long Beach, Calif., to the San Jose Sharks, including three seasons at BU.
