Winger Patrick Curry joins 2016 recruit class



BU has added a fifth forward for its 2016 recruit class. Left wing Patrick Curry of USHL Bloomington tweeted his commitment to BU last night.  The 5-10, 186 lb., forward from Schaumberg, Ill., is in his second season with the Thunder and has a 17-16-33 scoring line—including 10 power play goals— in 55 games.

A product of the Chicago Young Americans organization, Curry previously played for the Springfield Junior Blues, recording 26 points in 25 games.

Curry scored his first USHL hat trick last month against Youngstown.

Looking ahead
2019 recruit Robert Mastrosimone scored a goal and added an assist as Shattuck St. Mary’s defeated the Boston Junior Eagles, 3-1, in the championship game of the USA HockeyTier 1 14U Nationals.  The playmaker from East Islip, N.Y., finished the tournament tied for the scoring lead with teammate Grant Silianoff with 13 points and he led in assists with nine. Entering the tournament, Mastrosimone had 96 points (47G, 49A) in 54 games. Fellow 2019 recruit and SSM defenseman Braden Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) had a 12-32-44 line in 53 games.

2016 recruit Johnny McDermott scored two goals and added two assists in three games for Mid-Fairfield in the Tier 1 18U tournament. The left-shot center from Darien, Conn., had scored 36 points (11G, 25A) in his senior season for The Westminster School.


Looking back
Former BU assistant captain Sean Escobedo has been called up to the AHL Manitoba Moose from ECHL Greenville and has two assists in his first four games.
