Thirty-seven years later, Feb. 22 remains a red-letter day
on the hockey calendar, as fans recall Team USA’s totally improbable upset of
the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympic semifinal. Four Terriers played key roles
with goalie Jim Craig playing the game of his life, Mike Eruzione scoring the
game-winner, and big contributions from Jack O’Callahan and David Silk.
Everyone who follows hockey in North America knows the
story but here are a few links to help
you relive what was arguably the greatest hockey game ever played on a U.S.
rink.
Trivia question: Who played the role of Jim Craig in the
made-for-TV movie, “Miracle on Ice,” and who played him in the theatrical
production, “Miracle.”
