Game Day— Terriers vs. UMass

Terriers travel to Amherst today to take on Don “Toot” Cahoon’s UMass Minutemen. BU needs a win or tie to clinch the season’s series, having beaten and tied UMass back in October. The game airs on CBS College Sports, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The game provides a matchup of brothers who lead their respective teams in goal-scoring. BU co-captain Joe Periera has 12 markers for BU, while his brother Mike, a freshmen, has scored ten goals for UMass.

BU has seven conference games remaining, all with teams in the bottom half of the conference standings. Terriers will need to win nearly all those games to secure third place in the playoff seedings. Merrimack is tied with BU for third and has a game in hand.

For tonight, Terrier head coach Jack Parker has rearranged the centers on the top three lines and has inserted Kevin Gilroy back in the lineup. The lines will look like this:

Chris Connolly - Charlie Coyle - Joe Pereira
Matt Nieto - Corey Trivino - Alex Chiasson
Ross Gaudet - Sahir Gill - Wade Megan
Justin Courtnall - Ben Rosen - Kevin Gilroy
The defense remains unchanged and Kieran Millan continues his iron-man role in the cage.

► Forty years ago this weekend, UMass Coach Cahoon, skating on BU's top line, scored a goal and an assist as BU thumped New Hampshire, 8-3, en route to the Terriers' first NCAA title.
