This time, BU turned a 3-0 lead against Vermont into a win , if not gaining the shutout, beating the Catamounts 3-1. BU received a pair of second-period goals from Chris Connolly and Alex Chiasson and a third period goal from Matt Nieto (photo). Kieran Millan, who earned the game's first star, stopped 27 shots. UVM's Rob Madore kept the game as close as it was with a strong game in goal, making 31 saves. Adam Clendening, who assisted on two BU goals, was a standout at both ends of the ice. For the second consecutive night, Terriers dominated in the face off circle.
The win also moved BU into third place in Hockey East, a point ahead of Merrimack, which was swept by Maine this weekend. Terriers will likely need to win both games against Northeastern next weekend to finish third, as Merrimack owns the tiebreaker between the teams.
