All three higher seeds won opening-round games at home Wednesday night and quarterfinal match-ups are set.
As anticipated, #2 Terriers will face off for the fourth time this season against Northeastern—a 4-0 winner over Merrimack—Saturday afternoon at Agganis Arena at 4:15. All three prior meetings, two in January and one in February, were 4-3 decisions decided in overtime. BU won the first and the Huskies claimed the next two.
In the other quarter finals, BC will hoss Connecticut, Maine takes on New Hampshire, and Providence will take on UMass.
After earning Hockey East Weekly Awards on Monday, Macklin Celebrini and Cade Webber were announced as season award winners by the conference.
Webber was named the league’s Best Defensive Defenseman after setting a new NCAA record for blocked shots with 118 and averaging 3.68 blocks per game. He joins Chris Dyment (2001-02) and Sean Sullivan (2006-07) as winners of this award. Webber, a grad student who received his undergraduate degree in three years, frequently on the ice for entire penalty kills and helped BU kill 25 consecutive penalties this season.
Celebrini was a unanimous choice for Hockey East’s Pro Ambitions All-Rookie team as well as league scoring champion with 44 points. He is the only rookie in Hockey East history to average at least one goal per game in league play and his 23 goals is also a record for conference games. Celebrini also won Hockey East’s Three-Star Award competition (most points for 1st, 2nd or 3rd star). The Vancouver native’s 44 points ties him with Jack Eichel (2014-15) for fifth on the Hockey East single-season scoring list.
Celebrini duplicated the hat trick of conference honors achieved last year by Lane Hutson: unanimous All-Rookie, league scoring champion, and Three-Star Award champion. He is the 53rd Terrier to earn All-Rookie honors, the most of any Hockey East school.
Grad student Sam Stevens was runner-up for the Best Defensive Forward honors.

The Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team has five forwards and no defensemen.

F: Macklin Celebrini, Boston University *
F: Ryan Leonard, Boston College *
F: Bradly Nadeau, Maine
F: Gabe Perreault, Boston College *
F: Will Smith, Boston College

Had Hockey East included one defensemen, Tom Willander would have been an easy choice. He led all rookie Ds in points with 19 in league games, 12 more than the next rookie D. His 19 also was third best among all HEA defensemen, trailing only Lane Hutson and Eamon Powell. His plus/minus of +17 was third among all conference skaters and best for all blueliners.
