Pereira talks recruiting; USCHO focus on BU; Women ranked #15

►Associate Head Coach Joe Pereira’s passion for recruiting is on full display along with his evolution as a recruiter in this CHN interview. Addressing NIL income opportunities, he points out:

"There’s no price on development. If you’re in it for money, who knows if you’re going to fully develop the best you can. Our development model that we have at BU and the people who are part of this program that can help you develop. You know we have a lot of guys.  I think our forwards grossed the first or second most money in the National Hockey League last year from college hockey. So, I think the proof is in pudding and [if] you want to be a part of it you can achieve great things."

►USCHO's John Doyle spoke with co-captain Shane Lachance and head coach Jay Pandolfo about the team's early offensive success as well as that of senior goalie Mathieu Caron, whose .973 save percentage in last Saturday's win against Union was the best of any starter in Division 1. 

 

►Terriers accounted for two of the five Hockey East plays of the week: Lachance’s snipe and the Cole Hutson to Cole Eiserman power-player goal.

►Four Terriers were named to the conference Top Performers list for the past week.

Jack Harvey, BU (So., F; Stacy, Minn.) Lit the lamp and had the primary assist on Alex Zetterberg’s game-winning goal in the Terriers’ 4-1 victory over Union on Saturday.

Alex Zetterberg, BU (Fr., F; Sundsvall, Sweden) Scored for the second time in as many games, notching the game-winning goal in a 4-1 victory over Union on Saturday.

Cole Hutson, BU (Fr., D; Chicago, Ill.) Recorded a highlight-reel assist to set up Cole Eiserman’s goal in the first period of the Terriers’ 4-1 win over Union on Saturday.

Mathieu Caron, BU (Sr., G; Abbotsford, B.C.) Made 17 of his 36 stops of a 4-1 season-opening win over Union in the first period to help BU get out to a 3-0 lead, with several of those 17 first-period saves from point-blank range. He made an additional 12 saves to keep Union scoreless over the final 20 minutes.


Looking ahead

2025 recruit Cal Hughes scored his team-leading fifth goal, but West Kelowna dropped a 5-3 decision to Chilliwack. Hughes, a 6'1", left-shot center from New Jersey, took the puck at his own blue line, raced up the ice and while being hooked down, roofed a shot for a highlight-reel tally. 

Looking back

Jake Oettinger stopped 25 shots in the Stars' 3-2 shootout win against the Sharks. Oettinger, who had program-best 13 shutouts as a Terrier, improved to 3-0 with a 1.63 GAA and a .948 save percentage.

Jack Eichel scored his second goal in the Golden Knights' 4-2 loss to the Capitals. The 2015 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner is the NHL's co-leader in points with 8.    

On Monday, Matt Grzelcyk--with two assists--won the battle of two-time All-American BU defensemen, as the Penguins defeated Lane Hutson and the Canadians, 6-3.

One more look at Clayton Keller's overtime goal that gave Utah a 6-5 win over the Rangers. 

Women's Team

Freshman Lola Reid’s game-winner against Northeastern made Hockey East’s Plays of the Week. Following that win, the Terriers are now ranked #15.
