River Hawks turn tables on BU

In the ultra-tight Hockey East race, Lowell doubled up BU, 4-2, moving into second place as the Terriers slipped to third, two points behind BC.

The final regular-season game between BU and Lowell duplicated Friday’s script initially as the River Hawks took an early 1-0 lead that BU matched on Ross Gaudet’s deflection five minutes into the second. But that’s where the similarity ended.

While BU had numerous grade-A scoring chances, it struggled to find the net; meanwhile a five-minute major to Sahir Gill enabled Lowell to retake the lead with a power play goal. It was extended to 3-1 just before the end of the second period.

Grant Rollheiser replace Kieran Millan to begin the final period and BU stormed the Lowell cage, but the River Hawk got the next goal to extend their lead. A Max Nicastro power play blast cut the deficit to two, but that was as close as the Terriers could get.
