Next up: Hocky East Quarterfinals



Coach Jack Parker participated in today's he Hockey East Quarterfinals Coaches Media Teleconference, discussing BU's up and down season and the best-of-three matchup with Merrimack that begins Friday.
● Game two of the BU-Merrimack quarterfinal series, on Saturday, will air live on WBIN-TV in New England.

Freshman Danny O’Regan (photo), with a pair of game-winning goals in the sweep of Northeastern, earned Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors. He previously was Rookie of the Month for January. Sahir Gill, Sean Maguire and Matt Nieto made the top performers list.

Terriers have killed the past 15 opponent power plays.

Sean Escobedo leads the nation in blocks per game at 2.60.

Looking ahead

Shane Starrett stopped 30+ shots for Selects Hockey Academy in the US Elite Hockey League championship game, but the Junior Bruins U18s took away a 2-1 victory on a 5-on-3 goal in the third period. The 6-5 netminder is expected to play a year of junior hockey before joining BU in 2014.
 
2015 recruit JJ Piccinich scored an unassisted goal for Youngstown in a 6-4 loss to Green Bay.

2013 recruit Rob Baillargeon assisted on two goals as Omaha defeated Muskegon, 4-1.

2013 recruit Kevin Duane finished his EJHL season with 13 goals and 15 assists in 27 games and was the Jr. Bruins fourth leading scoring, despite joining the team in mid-season.

Looking Back
Former Terrier captain and current Bowdoin coach Terry Meagher guided the Polar Bears to a program single-season record 23 wins (23-4-2) and the New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament championship. Bowdoin built a 2-0 lead before Utica roared back for a 4-2 NCAA Div. 3 quarterfinal win. Now in his 30th season at Bowdoin, Meagher has 498 wins on his resume.

Ryan Whitney scored his third goal and added an assist in Edmonton’s 6-5 win over Chicago

Predators leading scoring Colin Wilson has been placed on injured reserve after suffering an upper-body injury Saturday. Brandon Yip was reactivated after recovering from a similar injury.

Women’s Team
Following their successful defense of the Hockey East title, the Terriers swept the conference weekly awards. Tourney MVP Kerrin Sperry earned both Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Sarah Lefort earned Rookie of the Week honors for the sixth time this season. With its third conference title in four seasons, BU was named Team of the Week.  Seniors Jennelle Kohanchuk and Isabel Menard made the top performers list.

When the Terriers host Clarkson in the quarterfinals this Saturday, this year's senior class will  become the first to play in an NCAA tournament in all four years at BU.
