U18 d-man Fensore commits; Mastrosimone shines; UPDATED

BU strengthened its pipeline of future defensemen when NTDP U18 blueliner Domenick Fensore committed to the Terriers for 2019. Fensore, a 5’7”, 155 pound left shot from Thornwood, NY, who previously had been committed to Quinnipiac, is the second recruit secured since Albie O’Connell took the reins as head coach.

Possessing “explosive skating” and strong passing skills, Fensore scored 31 points (2G, 29A) in 61 games for the U17s last season. In 2016-17, he scored 83 points with the PAL Junior Islanders, including 27 in 23 USPHL games. That spring he was invited to the NTDP Evaluation Camp and earned a roster spot on Team USA. SBNation reported:

Pay no attention to his height. His footwork and skating are so good he can overcome that. He retrieves pucks, breaks the puck out of the zone and acts as a fourth forward. His gaps and layers are good. He has a good shot and is a prototypical modern era puck transporter.

A year ago, he was named MVP of the Junior Chowder Cup, leading All-American Prospects to the '01 tournament title.

Fensore becomes the fourth member of this season’s U18s headed to BU, joining fellow blueliners Case McCarthy and Alex Vlasic, and center Trevor Zegras. The U18s will visit Agannis Arena on October 19th for an exhibition game against the Terriers.
