O’Brien
struggled during his freshman season with the Friars, scoring five points (2G,3A)
in 25 games. New England Hockey Journal reported that “An early season hit to
the head resulted in a concussion and O’Brien was never fully able to integrate
himself into the Friars’ lineup.” He skated for Team USA in the 2019 World
Junior Championships but was scoreless in seven games and elected to leave PC
shortly after the season ended.
