UPATED Remembering Mark Bavis; Writers & Broadcasters poll; Coaches Poll; Alums at NHL Rookie Showcases

Defending conference champion BU was the choice to repeat in the 2023-24 Hockey East Writers and Broadcasters Association Media Poll. Terriers received 11 of 15 first-place votes, while BC and Merrimack tied for second in the poll with each earning two first-place votes.

The HEW&BA poll also included picking a preseason All-Star team. It featured forwards Cutter Gauthier (BC), Justin Hryckowian (NU), and  Alex Jeffries (MC), defensemen Lane Hutson (BU) and Scott Morrow (UMass), and goalie Victor Ostman (Maine). Hutson, an All-American, Walter Brown Award winner and MVP of the Hockey East Tournament MVP last year, was the only unanimous selection.

The Hockey East Men's Coaches Poll was released this morning at the conference's Media Day event. We'll report on other Media Day activities in the next post.

2024 recruit Owen Keefe assisted on three goals as Muskegon edged Youngstown in overtime, 6-5. A defenseman from Saugus, Mass., Keefe skated for Team USA in this summer’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup event.
