Terriers remain at #3 in polls; SNL; Honorary Terrier; Extension for Webber; Women swept in Minnesota

Following their opening night 5-2 win over Holy Cross, Terriers remain at #3 in both major national polls.


The top four teams in the USCHO Poll--Denver, BC, BU, and Michigan State--remain unchanged. Future opponents North Dakota and Michigan dropped. UND, which lost an exhibition game to Augustana, slipped one spot to #6, while Michigan fell three spots to #10 after splitting a series with Minnesota State. Maine jumped up to #11 and Northeastern, which defeated Quinnipiac in an exhibition, moved up to #18.

The USA Hockey/The Rink Live poll has its top six unchanged. Maine moved up a slot and Providence was up two, while Michigan fell five spots to #13.

►USCHO: “Greene has a knack for getting the Agganis Arena crowd going in its first games of the season, having now scored five goals in his three BU home openers. He and his linemates Shane Lachance and Quinn Hutson combined for a plus-9 rating Saturday.”

►Guess who else, besides the Terriers, has been sharpening his game at Agganis Arena? It’s Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman who ended his holdout Sunday after agreeing to an eight-year, $66M contract.

Haoxi Wang - Neutral Zone - Men's

McKeen’s scouting director Brock Otten sees considerable upside for 2026 recruit Haoxi (Simon) Wang, a 6’6”, 212 lb., left-shot defenseman playing in the OJHL with King Rebellion who has ten points in ten games. Do check out the videos that follow the Tweet.

2026 recruit Luke Schairier, a 6-2 defenseman scored his first goal and added an assist  in the NTDP U17s 5-4 win against the Minnesota Elite League All-Stars Sunday. He also recorded an assist in Saturday’s 5-3 win over the All-Stars.

►2026 recruit Jay Feldberg scored the overtime game-winner (Instagram) and added his sixth assist to lead the Jr. Canadians past Aurora 4-3. A right-shot center, Feldberg has goals in four consecutive games and five in his last six. 6-6-12 in eleven games.

Cade Webber's strong performance at Toronto's rookie camp has earned him a contract extension. Originally drafted by Carolina (2019, 4th round), he was acquired by Toronto last Spring and signed a two-year, entry level contract.   In 2023-24, Webber set a new single-season NCAA record with 133 blocked shots en route to being named Hockey East Best Defensive Defenseman

Two years after his debut at Agganis Arena with a three-point game, Lane Hutson is ready to perform on hockey's biggest stage. The Athletic (subscription) digs deeper.

“He attacks ice, he attacks space, with or without the puck,” [Montreal Head Coach Martin] St. Louis said. “He sees plays develop before they do. And when he doesn’t have a lot of space, he’s really good at creating space. Elite players, their definition of space is probably smaller than non-elite players. An elite player doesn’t need a lot of space to create stuff, and an average player probably needs a little more space. But I feel for him, he can get in a phone booth and create space."

In Sunday’s rematch with Minnesota, BU stayed with the #2 Golden Gophers for most of two periods before yielding two scores late in the period, en route to a 5-2 defeat. On Friday, Minnesota edged the Terriers, 1-0, on a power play goal late in the final minutes of regulation.

After Minnesota took a 1-0 lead in the first period, Lilli Welcke matched that goal at 13:05 of the second period. But a penalty-shot score by Abbey Murphey, just a minute later gave Minnesota the lead for good.

Just minutes into the third period, Riley Walsh scored BU’s second goal on a breakaway, rapping home her own rebound.

Mari Pietersen had 21 saves for BU.

Lola Reid, a standout at Shattuck St. Mary's and the first Nebraska native to play for BU, scored the game-winner against Merrimack, along with two assists, also had a helper against Minnesota.
