2027 recruits Liam Lefebrve and Brady Knowling had very different roles in Saturday’s Rookie Faceoff game in San Jose between the Kings and the Sharks.
Lefebrve, a right-shot center with Cape Breton, dropped the gloves with towering Alexander Karmanov.

Knowling was sharp in goal stopping 26 of 27 shots as the Sharks thumped Los Angeles, 9-1.
In the teams' rematch on Sunday, Lefebrve put his stick skills to work, netting a pair of third period goals to pace a 4-1 win.
He discussed those tallies and Friday’s fight with fan site The Mayor/Team MM:
On his two goals coming from the dirty areas — a rebound and a deflection — and if getting to those areas on the ice is a big part of his game:
Yeah, definitely big. I think whenever you can get to that area, it’s the most dangerous place on the ice. So the more I can get there, the better, and then just utilize my frame to take away the goalie’s eyes and find those pucks.
On his fight in Game 1:
He’s definitely a big guy. But whenever one of my teammates goes down, I’m going to be there to step up for him. So I saw him go down and then had to answer to that for sure. Just trying to be a good teammate out there.
Prior to the Faceoff series, The Mayor/Team MM suggested that the Montreal native, whom the Kings drafted #46 overall in the 2026 Entry Draft, is “perhaps the fastest rising star in a Kings prospect pool.”
Lefebrve produced 32 goals and 59 points in his first QMJHL season and is expected to lead the offense for Cape Breton, the team he was traded to in the off-season.

Following the tournament, Lefebrve and Knowling (Saginaw) returned to their CHL teams.
►2027 recruit Carter Meyer (#20), who leads Quebec in pre-season points (3-2-5), was scoreless Saturday night, but offered up a reminder that he’s the son of rugged BU All-American and NHLer Freddy Meyer IV. Carter is ranked #3 for the 2027 NHL Entry Draft by TSN’s Steve Dryden. Fellow recruit and Remparts teammate James Scantlebury (#19) got involved in the after-the whistle action, as well.

►2027 or 2028 recruit Sam Pandolfo scored in each of game the NTDP U18’s opening weekend series, which they split with Muskegon. The 6’4”, 203 lb., center missed substantial time with injuries during his U17 season.

►2027 recruit Shawn Carrier (Halifax) scored for Colorado in a 7-3 Rookie Showcase win over Anaheim. Fellow recruit Rian Chudzinski (Moncton) was robbed by the Avs goalie on a grade A scoring chance.
►2027 recruit Braidy Wassilyn, currently at Montreal's rookie camp as an undrafted invitee, has been traded from OHL London to Saginaw. Spirit GM Dave Drinkill:
“We are extremely excited to add Braidy to our group here in Saginaw,” said Drinkill “He is a highly skilled player with game-breaking ability, and I saw firsthand what he can bring to a team during our time at U17’s. We believe we have added another proven, dynamic offensive weapon to our very talented forward group. The experience he’s gaining at an NHL camp will be valuable to our entire group, and we can’t wait to get started with Braidy in the coming weeks.”

Evan Rodrigues, after winning the Stanley Cup twice with Florida, was a key off-season acquisition by New Jersey. The Devils are looking for the former Terrrier scoring standout to bolster both the power-play and penalty-kill units as well as center a scoring line.

►Quinn Hutson took questions from the media prior to tonight's Oilers Rookie Showcase game. Last season the oldest of the Hutson brothers did what he does best--score goals--30 of them for AHL Bakersfield. He also made his NHL debut last season and scored his first NHL goal.
►ProHockey Rumors reports that Alex Chiasson “has joined the Washington Capitals as a full-time scout, per Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network. A member of the team’s beloved 2018 Stanley Cup winning roster, the 35-year-old has gotten right to work at the team’s rookie camp this weekend, having served as a consultant last year.”
A Montreal native and second-round pick by Dallas in 2009, Chiasson played 651 games over 11 NHL seasons, including a 22-16-38 mark for Edmonton in 2018-19. He produced 99 points (36G,63A) in three seasons as a Terrier.
