Junior Assistant Captain David Warsofsky's five-point (2+3) effort in the Ice Breaker Tournament earned him Hockey East's first Athletic Republic Player of the Week Award. Freshman Sahir Gill, also with five points (1+4) in St. Louis, including assists on both game-winning goals, took home the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week Award. And, to complete a trifecta of honors, BU took the first-ever Team of the Week Award.
Inside College Hockey, which made Warsofsky its national Player of the Week, also announced its pre-season All-Americans, naming Warsofsky to the third team. INCH will feature top recruits and recruit classes later this week. New England Hockey Journal talked with Coach Jack Parker about his expectations for the Marshfield, Mass., native whose draft rights were acquired by the Bruins this summer.
Terriers moved up four spots in the second weekly USCHO poll, now ranked tenth, just behind #8 Maine and #9 New Hampshire.
Next up for BU is the home opener against former Terrier Don Cahoon's UMass Minutemen and an intraframily matchup of BU co-captain Joe Pereira and his brother, Mike, a UMass freshman.
