Warsofsky, Gill take HE weekly honors

Junior Assistant Captain David Warsofsky's five-point (2+3) effort in the Ice Breaker Tournament earned him Hockey East's first Athletic Republic Player of the Week Award. Freshman Sahir Gill, also with five points (1+4) in St. Louis, including assists on both game-winning goals, took home the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week Award. And, to complete a trifecta of honors, BU took the first-ever Team of the Week Award.

Inside College Hockey, which made Warsofsky its national Player of the Week, also announced its pre-season All-Americans, naming Warsofsky to the third team. INCH will feature top recruits and recruit classes later this week. New England Hockey Journal talked with Coach Jack Parker about his expectations for the Marshfield, Mass., native whose draft rights were acquired by the Bruins this summer.

Terriers moved up four spots in the second weekly USCHO poll, now ranked tenth, just behind #8 Maine and #9 New Hampshire.

Next up for BU is the home opener against former Terrier Don Cahoon's UMass Minutemen and an intraframily matchup of BU co-captain Joe Pereira and his brother, Mike, a UMass freshman.

Note: we've added a link in the side bar for 2010-11 video highlights. It now features Ice Breaker highlights and will include video from as many games as possible this season.

Warsofsky and sophomore Sean Escobedo answer the media's question following Sunday's 5-4 win Notre Dame in the Ice Break championship game:

Looking back

Brandon Yip scored his first goal of the season in the Avalanche's 4-2 loss to the Flyers in Philadelphia.
