Despite a strong performance from goalie Sean Maguire, and Ahti Oksanen's first career goal, BU fell to the host Sioux, 4-2. Freshman Danny O'Regan opened the scoring in the first period with his third tally of the season. However, Connor Gaarder scored two of his three goals in the second period to give the Sioux the lead. After Oksanen scored on a screened power play blast to tie the game, the Sioux dominated the third period, with Gaarder's hat trick goal (during a two-man advantage) and an empty netter by Rocco Grimaldi. The teams are right back at it this evening, at 8pm eastern, on FCS and NESN.
The game featured an up-tempo pace, physical play, multiple posts, a major penalty, and two waived off goals. The biggest positive for Terrier fans was the rebound of Sean Maguire. Coming off of a forgetful collegiate debut against UNH, Maguire stopped 31 of 34 shots, including several tough bids from in close. Alexx Privitera, who assisted on BU's second goal, has a strong game, receiving kudos from the broadcast team for blocking several shots.
