Women’s
Team
Terriers
extended their winning streak to four and their unbeaten streak to seven with a
3-1 win over Providence. BU opened the scoring early with senior blueliner
Shannon Stoneburgh scoring her first goal of the season, converting a Kayla
Tutino rebound off the post.
But
the Terrier attack bogged down following three penalties in the first period
and two more in the second. Meanwhile, the Friars tied the score four minutes
into the middle period. More focused after a timeout called by Coach Brian
Durocher, BU regained the lead when senior Shannon Doyle's shot from the right
point beat the PC goalie.
Senior
captain Marie-Philip Poulin added a shorthanded goal in the final minutes of
the third period to close out the scoring and the Terriers’ first semester
schedule. They go into the break at 11-3-2 overall and 8-2-0 in Hockey East.
Freshman goalie Erin O'Neil made 15 saves to earn the win.
