Polls, honors and analysis, WJC camp roster--UPDATED

As expected, BU’s two losses to ECAC teams—with the win over Colgate sandwiched in between—dropped the Terriers from the top spot in USCHO’s weekly poll. BU is ranked third behind North Dakota and Minnesota State. SB Nation’s Power Rankings have the Terriers fourth, just edged out of third by Minnesota Duluth.

Captain Matt Grzelcyk (photo), assistant captain Evan Rodrigues and freshman Jack Eichel all made the Hockey East Weekly Top Performers list.

College Hockey News’ Joe Meloni reports on the Terriers’ need for more scoring from its second, third and fourth lines.  In Meloni’s Hockey East blog, he examines how the effectiveness of BU’s very young blueline corps has contributed to the team’s success.

The difficulty of maintaining a #1 ranking  is explored in Scott McLaughlin’s WEEI College Blog and in Joe Connelly’s USCHO Hockey East Blog.

Today, USA Hockey announced its evaluation camp roster for the U.S. Junior National Team, including freshman Jack Eichel, who, as a member of last year's Junior National Team, scored a goal and added four assists in five games. Practices will be held at BU's Walter Brown Arena beginning on Dec. 16 and are open to the public. Team USA will take on the Terriers on Dec. 19 at WBA before competing in the World Junior Championships in Toronto and Montreal.

Terriers moved up a notch, to #5 in the USCHO weekly poll.  BU is 4-0-1 in its past five games and will be on the road Saturday, visiting Vermont.
