College Hockey News: BU finally reclaims the Beanpot

Captain Matt Grzelcyk was interviewed on NESN between the periods of last night's Bruins-Canucks game.

From BU Hockey Historian Sean Pickett: The championship game was the shortest overtime game in the history of the Beanpot, giving BU the record for winning both the longest and shortest overtime games in the tournament in the same year

From BU Assistant AD Brian Kelley: With his assist on the game-winner, Jack Eichel became the first Terrier freshman to reach 50 points since Tony Amonte recorded 58 in 1989-90.

David Quinn joins Jack Parker as Terriers who have won a Beanpot championship as a player, assistant coach and head coach.

TSN’s Darren Dreger reports that 14 NHL teams have expressed interest in junior goalie Matt O’Connor. The Toronto native will be graduating this year and is expected to turn pro.

After distributing “I Like Eich” campaign buttons Saturday night, promoting Jack Eichel for the 2015 Hobey Baker Award, BU has issued a video of the freshman center’s highlights.

Looking ahead
The Scouting Director of profiles 2016 recruit Clayton Keller and three other top NTDP U17 players.  Last night, Keller scored his 25th goal of the season in the U17s’ 3-2 shootout loss to the NAHL All-Stars. He leads the team in scoring with a 25-33-58 line in 44 games.
