DYNASTY: Terriers Win Fourth Straight Hockey East Championship--UPDATED

March 8, 2015--HYANNIS, Mass. - Senior captain Marie-Philip Poulin had an assist and two goals, including the game-winner 2:40 into the third period, to lift the Boston University women's ice hockey team to the program¹s fourth straight Hockey East championship with a 4-1 victory over No. 1 Boston College on Sunday afternoon at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center.

BU (25-8-3) earned its first-ever win over a top-ranked team and advanced to its sixth straight NCAA tournament in the process. The Terriers are the second team to win four straight league tournaments and become the first team in Hockey East history to claim five Hockey East trophies.

 

Named Tournament MVP, 2015 Patty Kazmaier Award finalist Poulin completed an outstanding weekend with five goals in both wins in Hyannis. She finished the 2015 tournament with six goals and six assists for 12 points. Sophomore Maddie Elia scored in a WHEA title game for the second straight year while junior Sarah Lefort had an assist and the empty net goal. Classmate Kayla Tutino also had an assist.

Sophomore Victoria Hanson was outstanding for the Terriers as she won her fourth straight postseason start. Hanson finished with 32 saves.

BU, which earned the fifth seed in the eight team NCAA tournament, will travel to Wisconsin and play the fourth-seed Badgers in the NCAA quarterfinals next Saturday afternoon.
