The NCAA Hockey Championship field of 16
(pdf.)was announced today during the Selection Show on ESPNU. The newly crowned
Hockey East champion Terriers, #1 seed in the Northeast Regional in Manchester,
N.H., will face #4 Yale in the first round on March 27. The other half of regional
draw matches rivals #3 Minnesota-Duluth and #4 Minnesota.
The Elis, who won the NCAA title two seasons ago, lost to
Harvard in a hard-fought ECAC quarterfinal round series, 2 games to 1. Yale
needed both BU and Harvard to win their respective conference tournaments in
order to make it into the national tournament and that’s exactly what happened.
Yale goalie Alex Lyon has a goals against average of 1.58 - tops in Division 1.
