Game Day: Terriers vs. River Hawks in the HE Quarterfinals




#8 BU begins its best-of-three Hockey East quarterfinal series with #11 UMass Lowell tonight at Tsongas Arena. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. for the contest that will be broadcast on NESN and American Sports Network (station list). Former Terrier defenseman and Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 national championship game Colby Cohen will join the ASN studio crew.

BU and Lowell split the season series with the Terriers taking a 2-1 overtime decision on home ice and the River Hawks winning 6-3 at Tsongas. Lowell has the number two defense in Division 1 and goalie Kevin Boyle sports a 1.84 GAA, fifth best in the nation. Lowell’s offense is led by CJ Smith (33 points), Adam Chapie (31) and Joe Gambardella (30). Lowell stats.

Senior Danny O’Regan’s 42 points (16G, 26A) paces the BU attack while classmates Ahti Oksanen and Matt Lane (photo) have 36 and 28 points respectively. Three freshmen, Jordan Greenway, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson and Charlie McAvoy all have exceeded 20 points.  Senior Sean Maguire has a 1.94 GAA since the beginning of November and a .947 save percentage in his past 13 starts. Looking back
Zach Cohen scored his 11th goal of the season in ECHL Elmira's 4-1 win against Adirondack. Cason Hohmann, the Jackals leading scorer with 46 points, assisted on the goal. Cohen, a member of BU's 2009 national champions, has 10 points in 16 games since being acquired by Elmira.
