Terriers draw Denver in first-round

Making its 34th NCAA tournament appearance, BU will head to St. Paul for the West Regional at the Xcel Energy Center and a Saturday meeting with Denver. The #3 seed Terriers and #2 Pioneers will play the second first-round game, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and airing live on ESPNU. The other regional match-up has top-seed St. Cloud State meeting #4 Ferris State. The winners will meet on Sunday for the Regional Championship.

BU and Denver have met four times in the NCAA tournament. The Pioneers won in the semifinal in 1960 and the consolation game in 1966. The Terriers won, 4-2, on the strength of Don "Toot" Cahoon's hat trick in the 1971 semifinal --en route to their first national title--and in the 1997 regional championship game on Chris Drury's overtime goal.
