Game Day: Terriers visit Vermont; Keller rejoins line-up

#5 BU is in Burlington for its final Hockey East games of first semester, taking on #12 Vermont. Game time for Friday’s and Saturday’s contests is 7 pm with a free live stream available (link below).

The Catamounts are on a six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1) and in their most recent contests won the Friendship Four tournament in Belfast with wins over Quinnipiac and UMass. Like BU, Vermont is getting strong contributions at both ends of the ice from freshmen. Goalie Stefanos Lekkas sports a .940 save percentage and a 1.72 GAA. Top scorer is fellow rookie Ross Colton with 12 points (6G, 6A). Sophomore Craig Puffer and senior Mario Puskarich each have 10 points.

BU is 4-1-1 in its last half dozen games and took three of four points from Providence last weekend, largely due to freshman Jake Oettinger, who stopped 68 of 71 shots in those two games, earning Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors. Freshman Patrick Harper leads BU with 17 points while three sophomores, Jordan Greenway, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson and Charlie McAvoy have 13, 13 and 12 respectively. (BU stats).

Last weekend junior Nikolas Olsson returned to the line-up following an injury and scored the game winner on Friday and tied the game Saturday. It remains to be seen whether or not freshman Clayton Keller has recovered sufficiently to rejoin the line-up. He had his first practice with contact earlier this week.
