Terriers shine as US wins WJC opener--UPDATED

BU skaters powered Team USA to a 6-1 win over Latvia in a preliminary round game of the World Junior Championships in Toronto.  Clayton Keller scored twice and Patrick Harper and Jordan Greenway also found the net. There was nearly a fifth goal from a Terrier as Kieffer Bellows rang a shot off the post.
As he’s done numerous times for BU, Harper tallied the game’s first goal, wiring a wrist shot from the high slot. In the second period Keller converted a rebound from just outside the crease for a 3-1 lead. In the third period, Keller stripped a Latvian skater headed out of his D-zone and whipped a shot home to make it 4-1. Greenway, who was a force along the boards and behind the net throughout the contest and earned US Player of the Game honors, wristed home a shot from the bottom of the right circle to close out the scoring.

Next up for Team USA is Slovakia on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.  Dante Fabbro and Team Canada, which defeated Russia, 5-3, is back on the ice tonight, facing Slovakia in an 8 p.m. ET start. Both games will air on NHL Network and TSN.
