Goalie Jake Oettinger and incoming freshman center Shane
Bowers became the 16th and 17th Terriers selected in the
first round of an NHL Entry Draft. Oettinger, Central Scouting's top-rated North American
netminder and a Hockey East All-Rookie selection, went to Dallas
at #26 after the Stars traded to move up three places. Two picks later, Bowers,
the Halifax native who played for USHL Waterloo the past two seasons, was
selected by Ottawa. The Senators reportedly also had been interested in the
Terrier goalie.
Oettinger was preceded one spot in the draft by St. Cloud
sophomore Ryan Poehling, who grew up two blocks from Oettinger in Lakeville,
Minnesota.

BU bound Shane Bowers picked by @Senators. Size/Strength is very good. Good feet/skater. Good brain & hockey sense. Excels on Faceoffs. pic.twitter.com/2sr9flV2SF— Bucci Mane (@Buccigross) June 24, 2017
