Terriers at the NHL Combine; Rosters filling up for Com Ave Classic III

Last season's All Rookie Hockey East goalie Jake Oettinger was joined by four incoming freshmen--Shane Bowers, David Farrance, Kasper Kotkansalo and Cameron Crotty--at the just concluded NHL Draft Combine in Buffalo. Oettinger found time to pen another NHL Draft Diary entry, commenting on interviews with NHL teams and the rigorous physical testing.

Bowers, projected to be a late first-round pick, talked with Edmonton's Jack Michaels about his game the opportunity that early departures of two BU centers has created for him. Considered to be strong in the faceoff circle, Bowers is looking to hone that skill further since "possession is a big part [of the game]" as well as spend time in the weight room.
Farrance, who made the short trip from Rochester suburb Victor, NY to Buffalo talked with the Democrat & Chronicle about his Combine experience.

NHL.com posted the results of 15 types of physical testing done at the Combine. Bowers finished first in the Aerobic Fitness Test Duration category while Crotty was #23. On the VO2Max test, Bowers was #4 and Crotty finished at #17.
Kotkansalo, a 6'3.5" Finnish defenseman who played for USHL Sioux Falls, was ranked #92 among North Americans by NHL Central Scouting.
