The #9/12 Terriers welcome Waterloo University to Agganis Arena for an exhibition game tonight. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. for the contest that will stream on ESPN+.
Coach Jay Pandolfo, whose squad defeated Bentley, 8-2, in the regular-season opener last week, indicated that because an unlimited number of players are allowed in an exhibition, nearly everyone will dress for the game. The exceptions are junior Luke Tuch, who played last week, and senior Wilmer Skoog. Both had sustained injuries at NHL development camps in July.
Commenting on the five freshmen who played against Bentley, Pandolfo explained that their goal and point production gave them confidence and will help them relax as they face stronger competition. Three of the freshmen had three points: Hockey East Rookie of the Week Ryan Greene (2G,1A), Jeremy Wilmer (1G, 2A) and Lane Hutson (3A). Devin Kaplan and Quinn Hutson each had a goal and an assist.
Waterloo has already played six exhibition games, winning two and losing four. Last weekend they lost to UQTR, 6-0, and to Concordia, 2-1 in overtime. Returning forward Dan Walker was last season’s top goal scorer (8) and point scorer (17). Goalie Julian Sime posted a 2.77 GA.

The Hockey News’ Ryan Kennedy posted his Top 100 NCAA Players to Get Excited About for 2022-23 with five Terriers on the list: Domenick Fensore (#17), Lane Hutson (#26), Greene (#28), Drew Commesso (#35) and Kaplan (#85).
Rules
►College Hockey News is reporting a change in how overtime games impact Pairwise rankings. This year, overtime wins will count more than last year — instead of the 55/45 split for Pairwise purposes, OT wins now count as 2/3rds of a win, and 1/3rd of a loss, and vice-versa for the losing team.
College hockey officials have been directed to be stricter in getting players off the ice by the time the clock hits 23 minutes to game time. Last weekend, Minnesota-Duluth, Arizona State and Minnesota State all began their games with a player in the penalty box due to infractions of this rule.

2023 or 2024 recruit Macklin Celebrini scored twice in Chicago’s 6-4 loss to Dubuque. The center from Vancouver’s second tally brought the Steel to within a goal at 5-4 before an empty-netter ended the comeback.
2023 recruit Jack Musa assisted on two goals, including the overtime game-winner, as Madison edged Green Bay, 4-3.
2023 recruit Jack Gorton's first goal was Victoria's only tally as the Grizzlies lost to Prince George, 3-1, in BCHL action.

John Hynes’ Predators defeated David Quinn’s Sharks, 4-1, in the NHL’s Global Series season opener in Prague. Dante Fabbro assisted on Nashville’s third tally.

Emulating the men’s game last week, the Terrier women got three goals from freshmen en route to a 4-0 win against RPI at Walter Brown Arena. Grad student Andrea Brändli, a transfer from defending NCAA champion Ohio State, stopped all 19 shots she faced for her first win and shutout as a Terrier.
Neither team put any points on the board over the first 40 minutes, but that ended early in the third period when freshman Sydney Healy scored on the rush, unassisted at 0:55. Then midway through the period, BU scored twice in 38 seconds. Freshman Clara Yuhn scored from outside the right circle,assisted by Alex Allan and Brooke Ersoy, to double the lead. Moments later Ersoy assisted by Liv Haag and Kylie Roberts. Yuhn scored again in the game’s final minute, with Christina Vote and Jesse DeVito getting the helpers.
BU is back on the ice this afternoon to face Union at Walter Brown. Puck drop is at 4 p.m.
